Abstract

967,296. Revolving seats. SENG CO. Nov. 10, 1961, No. 40316/61. Heading A4J. A chair fitting 15 (Fig. 2) comprises as an upper plate 19 securable to a seat structure 17 and a lower plate 18 securable to a chain base 16, the plates being connected together by pivot means 24 which permit relative rotation between the plates 18, 19, means such as ball bearings 22 in load-bearing engagement with the plates 18, 19, a spring 25 retaining the plates in a pre-set angular direction and urging the plates towards this direction upon relative rotation of the plates in either direction therefrom, a lug 28, 29 on the plates 18, 19 respectively, each lug engaging an opposite end 27 of the spring 25 upon relative rotation of the plates 18, 19 from the pre-set direction to stress the spring, and circumferentially spaced stop fingers 30 on the plate 18 for limiting relative rotation of the plates from the preset direction. The plates 18, 19 in the region of the pivot 24 each have an inwardly extending boss 18a, 19a encircled by a convoluted portion 26 of the spring 25. The ball bearings 22 are housed in a ball race formed by grooves 20, 21 in the plates 18, 19 respectively and are spaced apart by link bars 23.
