Abstract

967,238. Non-conducting coverings for heat. BRITISH REFRASIL CO. Ltd. Jan. 13, 1961 [Oct. 14, 1959], No. 34794/59. Heading F2X. A heat insulation unit comprises a number of superimposed stainless steel foils 1 each having projections 2 on one face and spacing bearer strips 3 disposed transversely of the said projections on the other. In attaching the unit to a surface of any shape the foils are formed to a greater convexity than that of the surface and the centre or central axis of the unit forced into contact with the surface. In the form shown in Fig. 2 the foil 1 is hexagonal, the projections 2 arcuate and the strips 3 radial, the unit being attached to a concave surface (Fig. 4) by the engagement of a nut 8 and washer 9 with a threaded stud 7 which is welded to the said surface and passes through a central aperture 5 in the foil. The unit may be rectangular (Fig. 5, not shown), in which case securing apertures are provided along its central axis.
