967,148. Moulds for optical elements. LENTILLES OPHTALMIQUES RATIONNELLES. March 12, 1963 [March 13, 1962], No. 9807/63. Heading B5A. A mould for the production of optical elements, e.g. ophthalmic lenses, obtained by condensation or polymerization of monomeric synthetic resins, has one face 13 having the shape and optical polish of the corresponding face of the finished optical element, and preferably formed of glass, the other face 12 being made of pliable material, e.g. of plastic or comprising a metal disc connected to the glass face by a plastic joint, and adapted to follow any contraction of the synthetic resins in the mould. The second face of the element receives its final shape by conventional optical surfacing methods.
