A hollow structural member comprising plates 1 and 2 with a framework 3 connected to them has two opposite edges closed by sectionalmembers 4 having projections 8 for transmitting forces from the structural member to supports such as girders 9. In an alternative form of sectional member the web 7 is an integral part thereof. Fig. 3 shows a further form of sectional member for closing the ends of the cavities in the framework 3. A number of structural members closed along all edges may be coupled together to form a floating bridge.
