Abstract
A tinting composition comprises a pigment in a medium comprising at least 45% by weight of a mixture of 1-4 parts by weight of a condensate of ethylene oxide with an alkyl phenol containing between 6 and 17 ethylene oxide units, and 4-1 parts of an ether alcohol of formula: R1-O-CH2-CH2-OR2 in which R1 is aryl or alkyl of 1-10 carbon atoms, and R2 is H or -CH2CH2OH. The compositions may also include solvents, dispersion aids and anti-settling agents. Examples of tinting compositions contain (1) Turkey Red Oxide, Ethylene glycol monohexyl ether, and a condensate of nonyl phenol with 15 ethylene oxide units. (2) Dioxazine Violet, Whiting, Ethylene glycol mono-isopropyl ether, and a condensate of nonyl phenol with 7 units of ethylene oxide. (3) Anthanthrone orange, soya lecithin, white spirit, ethylene glycol monophenyl ether and a condensate of dodecyl phenyl with 6 units of ethylene oxide. (4) Phthalocyanine blue, cottonseed lecithin, pine oil, groundnut oil, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether and a condensate of dodecyl phenol with 12 units of ethylene oxide. (5) Phthalocyanine blue, groundnut oil, diethylene glycol monobutyl ether, and a condensate of dodecyl phenol with 15 ethylene oxide units.ALSO:A tinting composition comprises a pigment in a medium comprising at least 45% by weight of a mixture of 1-4 parts by weight of a condensate of ethylene oxide with an alkyl phenol containing between 6 and 17 ethylene oxide units, and 4-1 parts of an ether alcohol of formula R1-O-CH2-CH2-OR2 in which R1 is aryl or alkyl of 1-10 carbon atoms, and R2 is H or -CH2CH2OH.
