Abstract

965,955. Inductances. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 25, 1962 [May 29, 1961], No. 20213/62. Heading H1T. [Also in Division H2] In a discharge lamp arrangement, as disclosed in Specification 766,711, to allow greater freedom in the design of the transformer, the stray reactances of the windings are made different so that the voltages across the windings differ by at least 10%. In one embodiment an air gap is formed inside one of the winding cores (Fig. 6, not shown). In Fig. 4 the core 11 is T-shaped, one winding 7 being placed against the cross-beam. In a further arrangement (Fig. 2, not shown) the core projects farther from one side of the windings. Design data for the cores and windings are given in the Specification.
