965,515. Locking screw-threaded members. NYLOK CORPORATION. Jan. 8, 1963 [Jan. 8, 1962], No. 884/63. Heading F2H. A self-locking screw-threaded fastener has an elongated groove 13 extending through and interrupting the threads, the groove having a concave bottom 16 and sides 17, 18 converging from the bottom to the top of the groove in which groove is held an insert 14 of nylon or other resilient material. The insert is circular in cross-section and engages the sides and bottom of the groove, extending outwardly beyond the roots of the threads and is held under compression in the groove by being pressed in a radial direction against the bottom by the converging sides. The included angle between the sides 17, 18 is between 10 degrees and 40 degrees.
