Abstract
An a -nitro-o -lactam is obtained by nitrating a 2-chloro-azacyclo-2,3-alkene N-carbochloride and hydrolysing the product, the pH being controlled by use of a base so that at least in the last stage of the hydrolysis it is 2-4. Examples prepare a -nitro caprolactam. The reaction products can be reduced to a -amino-o -lactams, and these hydrolysed to a , o -diamino-carboxylic acids.
