Abstract
In the process for treating razor blades whereby a coating of a fluorocarbon is applied to at least a portion of the blade surface and the coated blade is then heated to cause the fluorocarbon to form an adhering film, the heating operation is carried out in a reducing atmosphere. The coating material may be polytetrafluoroethylene, polytrifluorochloroethylene or fluorinated polyethylenepropylene; it may be applied in an aqueous or non-aqueous dispersion by dipping or spraying to plain steel or stainless steel blades which may be initially cleaned and pre-heated. The reducing atmosphere may be a mixture of nitrogen and hydrogen obtained by the dissociation of ammonia. French Specifications 1,293,388 and 1,299,519 are referred to.
