Abstract

The antiobiotic oxytetracycline is produced by growing Actinomyces varsoviensis sp. nov. or an oxytetracycline-producing mutant thereof in an aqueous nutrient medium under submerged aerobic conditions, and isolating the oxytetracycline thus produced from the fermented broth. The oxytetracycline is isolated by known methods e.g. as the hydrochloride. Specifications 648,417 and 713,795 are referred to.
