Abstract

963,357. Saucepan &c. handles. HEALEY MOULDINGS Ltd. Jan. 18, 1962 [Jan. 20, 1961], No. 2303/61. Heading A4A. A tubular plastic handle 17, detachably secured to an attachment member 11 riveted or welded to a saucepan 14, has a bore 21 housing a rod 25 which has a hook 27 engaging a web 15 in the socket 10 of the member 11 and is threaded for engagement with a nipple 24 which is formed with a flanged head 23 bearing on a conical seat 22 at the end of the handle. The end of the socket 10 is triagular in cross-section and receives a triangular extension 19 of the handle, the socket being of such length that abutment of the socket opening against a shoulder 26 spaces the extension from the web which has a notch 16 in which the hook 27 is engaged prior to rotation of the nipple to tighten up the assembly. In a modification the socket and extension are circular in cross-section relative rotation being prevented by keying or by forming the abutting faces at 65 degrees to the axis of the handle which is thin walled and closed by a cap having a countersink for the head of the nipple.
