A rotor for a pump, compressor or an inwardflow turbine operated by air, gas, steam or water comprises blades with three substantial dimensions and placed, preferably equidistantly, between imaginary circles which are concentric to the axis of rotation, the inner circle being the rotor eye and the outer circle being the rotor periphery, the blades being roughly of triangular shape, preferably with smooth, curved contour lines and rounded-off corners, one face of each blade being substantially of radial direction, another being concentric to the axis of rotation and the third being the longest. In the pump impeller shown, each blade is of roughly triangular shape with rounded corners, the trailing face BC being of substantially radial direction, and the front face AB being longer and having a smaller outlet angle than the trailing face. The third face AC is concentric with the rotor axis O.
