Abstract
961,486. Photo-electric devices. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. (T. D. Threadgold). Aug. 10, 1962, No. 30787/62. Drawings to Specification. Heading H1K. A photo-electric cell is formed of a number of photo-sensitive elements interconnected in series and/or parallel and each disposed in an aperture in a grid. Each photo-sensitive element is formed by coating an N-type silicon wafer with a thin layer of boron-doped P-type silicon and provided with a central and peripheral electrodes. The grid carrying the elements may be sandwiched between a metal base, e.g. of aluminium alloy, having cooling fins and a transparent window and these parts are united by a profiled peripheral strip crimped on to the edges of the base and the window.
