Abstract
In the continuous production of dustless, granular Na2O by oxidation of molten Na in a rotating tube furnace with free oxygen-containing gas, the granulation zone, where granulation is completed, commencing at the point of admission of the Na is not cooled, but the resulting granular product is cooled in and throughout that part of the rotating tube immediately following the granulation zone as quickly as possible. A plastic mass of Na and partially oxidized Na is formed in the granulation zone as distinct from the process of U.S.A. Specification 2,825,629, where the granulation zone is cooled but not the subsequent zone.
