Abstract

Thermoplastic compositions comprise (A) 5-30% of a rubbery terpolymer of the kind used in the compositions of the parent Specification, e.g. a butadiene-1:3, acrylonitrile and styrene terpolymer (B) 10-60% of a resinous copolymer of 50-90% of a styrene, e.g. styrene, chlorostyrene, vinyl toluene with 50-10% of an acrylonitrile, e.g. acrylonitrile, methylacrylonitrile, ethyl acrylonitrile (C) 10-60% of a vinyl chloride polymer or copolymer containing a major proportion of vinyl chloride (D) 1-55% of a plasticizer, e.g. polypropylene adipate, polypropylene sebacate, or such a compound in which the end groups are reacted with a monohydric alcohol or monobasic acid, e.g. lauryl modified polypropylene sebacate, an alkyl ester of an aromatic or aliphatic acid or a phenolic ester of phosphoric acid, e.g. dioctyl phthalate, dioctyl sebacate, tritolyl phosphate, or an epoxidized ester-type oil such as an iso-octyl epoxystearate. An anti-oxidant for the rubberresin blend, e.g. a tri(nonyl-phenyl)-phosphite preparation, and a stabilizer preventing discolouration of polyvinyl chloride, e.g. dibutyl tin maleate, may be incorporated. A pigment, an inert filler, soap or other surface-active agent, a lubricant, a flame-resisting agent may be incorporated.
