Drawings to Specification. Heading B5N. [Also in Division A5] A laminate comprises alternating preformed layers of knitted textile and resilient foamed material, the layers being secured together by means which maintains communication between the interstices of adjacent layers but permits the laminate being cut into small pieces without falling apart. The knitted layers may be cotton with or without the interspersion of an elastic yarn or thread and the foamed layers may be polyurethane or rubber. The layers are secured together by stitching or adhesive applied only to the raised parts of the knitting and may have ventilation apertures. For a tubular laminate, a strip of foamed material is applied helically over a seamless knitted tube, the abutting edges of the strip being chamfered. Alternatively, an extruded tube of foamed material or a tube made by joining a sheet of foamed material axially so that the abutting edges overlap to form a thickened region may be employed.
