Abstract

A clear ink suitable for screen printing has the following composition: 33% solids cellulose nitrate of low viscosity and nitrogen content 11.8-12.3% dissolved in ethylene glycol mono isopropyl ether acetate, 12,500 parts by weight; 72% of a plasticizer castor oil glyceryl sebacate, 2,545 parts by weight, and 255 parts by weight of a second plasticizer dimethylcyclohexyl adipate. The polymer to total plasticizer ratio, which controls the release properties, is 100:67 in this ink. If 6,000 parts by weight of a pigment such as nitrile titanium dioxide are added the said ratio is adjusted to 100:81. Dioctyl phthalate, tributylcitrate, or trixylenylphosphate may be used instead of dimethylcyclohexyl adipate.
