A waste tearing machine provided with more than one swift has means for turning over the web delivered by one swift before it passes to the next swift. The turnover device consists of pairs of forks 8 mounted on a shaft 9 that is indexed through 90 degrees when the space between a pair of forks has been filled by a web of fibres which has passed the first swift. Conveyer belts 10 pass webs to the following swift during the period in which the forks are stationary between indexing steps.
