Abstract
959,197. Cinematographic apparatus. SPECTO Ltd. Aug. 22, 1960 [Sept. 22, 1959], No. 32227/59. Heading G2E. A cinematographic camera or projector having two film frame speeds and claw feed mechanism has a registering pin for engaging the film perforations when the feed claw is retracted from the film. The embodiment of Fig. 1 is a camera having an objective 11 and an additional housing 12 for a cathode-ray tube the image on which is photographed simultaneously with the main object with the aid of a beam combining element 14. The electric motor 20 drives, via pinions 21, 22, an overload slipping clutch 23 and further pinions 24, 25, a one-revolution clutch 26. The latter may be coupled, against disengaging spring-loading 31,to the shaft 30 by an electric pulse which, as explained below, is applied at predetermined intervals to a solenoid 32. The armature 33 of the latter is linked via members 34, 35, 36 to the one revolution clutch, thus rotating drive shaft 30 with a speed reduction factor of 15. The pulses to the solenoid are controlled by a pair of series-linked switching drums 43, 50 which are of insulating material and carry a conducting strip for bridging respectively the pairs of conducting strips 45, 52 once each revolution, and which are driven from the gear train at speeds of one revolution per second and one revolution per 15 seconds, respectively, so that the make-and-break is carried out rapidly once every fifteen seconds. Fig. 2 shows the claw mechanism mounted on a housing 61 which is slidable by means of an eccentric 72 towards and away from the film gate. Claw arms 62 having claws 68 for engaging the film perforations are pivotable on an axis shaft 63 reciprocable in slots 64 by crank 65 the shaft 66 of which rotates twice as fast as a shaft 76 (both these shafts being driven via suitable gearing from drive shaft 30). Shaft 76 drives a double cam 75 to rock a spring-loaded lever 77. A pin 78 on the latter slidably bears on claw arm 62 and pivots it, without interfering with the downward movement of the pivoting axis 63, thereby disengaging the claws from the film and at the same time pushing a registering pin 81 into engagement with a perforation in the film. Specification 959,198 is referred to.
