Abstract
958,804. Cathode-ray tubes. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. March 15, 1961 [April 13, 1960], No. 9568/61. Heading H1D. An electron gun comprises a cathode (not shown), a control electrode G1, Fig. 5, a cupshaped screen electrode G2, a tubular focusing electrode G3 and a tubular anode G4 which has an apertured transverse partition 88 at its end facing the focusing electrode, the diameter D1 of the focusing electrode being greater than that, D2, of the screen electrode and equal to, or slightly greater than, the axial distance L between the apertured ends of the accelerating and screen electrodes. The following relationship is given between the distances L, D1, D2 and L2 shown in Fig. 5: L2 : D2 : D1 : L = 1 : 4 : 5 : 5. The ratio D4 : D1 equals 1 : 3. Variations from these preferred ratios are acceptable. The screen electrode G2 may have the form shown in Fig. 6 in which a concave member 102 is integral with or separated inserted into the cup 101.
