An injection moulding apparatus has an extended mould part 19 attached to a resiliently mounted displaceable plate 14 which actuates a switch 26 to terminate injection when a predetermined internal pressure is reached and also to maintain this pressure after injection is completed. The plate 14 is mounted on a ram 12 by means of springs 15 and screw bolts 16. The compression of the springs 15 may be adjusted by means of screws 17. On injection, the pressure in the mould rises, and as the mould part 19 and the plate 14 are displaced downwardly they operate the switch 26 which contacts means 25 for moving a slider 24 to stop injection. The injection worm or piston (not shown) is stopped simultaneously. As the material cools and shrinks the mould part 14 is pushed up by the springs to maintain the same pressure on the material.
