Abstract

957,244. Pressure exchangers. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT) Ltd. April 23, 1963 [May 17, 1962], No. 19153/62. Addition to 936,427. Heading F1N. In a pressure exchanger having means for varying the volume of the cells during their motion relative to the ducting projecting from the end plates 6, 7, Fig. 2, as claimed in the parent Specification the volume varying means is such that each cell reaches its maximum and minimum volume at least twice per unit of relative motion. Radial cell walls 1 Fig. 1 are outwardly biased in slots cut in a hub 2 rotated about an axis 3 and the outer edges of the cell walls are in rubbing contact with the inner surface of an elliptical sectioned shroud 4 having its centre a point 3. As shown each cell passes between two similar sets of ducts per complete revolution comprising low and high pressure inlet ducts 8, 14 and an intermediate pressue outlet duct 19 and corresponding ducts 12, 10 and 17.
