Abstract

A roll-oil or roll-neck lubricant comprises a major amount of an alkylate bottoms fraction boiling above 400 DEG F. together with from 0.1 to 20%, preferably 2-10% by weight of a non-soap thickening agent, e.g. polyisobutylene. The lubricant may also contain a long chain saturated aliphatic alcohol, e.g. lauryl alcohol, and isopropyl oleate. In an example, an antioxidant and an anti-rust agent known under the Registered Trade Marks "Parabar 441" and "Lubrizol 859" respectively are present in the composition.
