Abstract

956,945. Girdles. A. GARSON. Sept. 6, 1962 [Sept 26, 1961], No. 34210/62. Heading A3V. A girdle 10 comprises a seamless one piece length of fabric having integrally formed areas 16 of different stretch characteristics for supporting the abdominal muscles. The supporting area is formed by incorporating more e elastic strands in these parts of the fabric during the knitting operation. The length of fabric is joined with a single front seam 12. The reinforced area in the embodiment shown follows a sinusoidal pattern having its highest point at the front and lowest part in the back. Due to the fact that the reinforced parts are knit integrally with the fabric there is no visible line of demarcation between areas of different stretch characteristics.
