Abstract

956,632. Extruding bricks. K. W. LENTON, and F. G. BADGER. April 16, 1963 [April 18, 1962], No. 14996/62. Heading B5A. Building bricks having perforations and/or internal recesses are formed by extruding brickmaking material through a die provided with a core having a main portion 10 for bridging an upstream zone of a throat and through which the brick-making material is fed under pressure, and having secured thereto rods 18 having heads 19 at their down-stream ends for forming the perforations and/or recesses, and parts of the core are detachable and are thus replaceable when worn. In the illustrated embodiment the heads 19 are screw-threaded into the rods 18, and the latter are screw-threaded into the main portion 10.
