Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of formula: <FORM:0955963/C2/1> where R1 is alkyl, R2 is methyl, and R3 is bromine, nitro or amino. In examples, 1-ethyl-2-methyl -5- chloro -6- nitrobenzimidazole is prepared by nitration of 1-ethyl -2- methyl -5-chlorobenzimidazole, reduced to the 6-amino compound, and the latter is diazotised and treated with CuBr to give the 6-bromo compound. Specifications 955,961 and 955,962 are referred to.
