Abstract

955,900. Winding drums for Venetian blinds. HUNTER DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL (QUEBEC) Ltd. March 16, 1962 [March 17, 1961], No. 10247/62. Heading E1J. The driving spindle or pipe of a winding drum for a Venetian blind associated with a slat tilting mechanism through a slip coupling is provided with a braking or other locking device. The embodiment described has a unitary tilting and lifting and lowering mechanism as described and claimed in Specification 955,899 mounted in the end of a power or manually driven pipe 2, into the end of which is secured a controlling mechanism 15 rotatably mounted in its end support 17 and including a pulley 15 accommodating an endless controlling cord 20. Fitted rotatably to the controlling mechanism is a locking device. 21 Fig. 6 having a brake shoe 23 with a surface 24 interacting with a surface 25 of the fixed rigid support 17. On pulling cords 20 in direction of arrow 27 surfaces 24 and 25 separate so that the mechanism 15 can be rotated by cord 20 in either direction to raise or lower the blind. Before locking, the cord 20 may be pulled in the reverse direction to tilt the slats.
