Abstract

954,962. Utilizing wave energy. M. HOCEVAR. May 16, 1962 [May 23, 1961], No. 18808/62. Heading F1S. [Also in Division B7] A marine vessel 1 comprises floats 2 and 21 arranged on the hull so as to be vertically movable and connected to a power plant 12, 13 and 14 by pivotal outrigger arms 3 and 7 and cables 5, the vertical movements of the floats produced by the wave motion in relation to the hull being used to drive the power plant which is connected to the vessel driving means. The cylinders 13 are filled with a pressure fluid and movement of the floats, transmitted by the continuous cable 5 passing over pulleys 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11 causes the pistons to move and operate the vessel driving engine, (not shown). The floats are conveniently life-boats and the arms 3 are formed with gangways 4. The floats may be lifted from the water and stowed on deck. A float may be disposed at the stern of a vessel.
