A vulcanizing press, for the remoulding of vehicle tyres, includes upper and lower heating tables 5, 2 provided with mould halves 4, 1 or having mould halves formed therein and a mechanism for separating the mould halves consisting of threaded spindles 8 fastened to the lower heating table 2, and nuts 7 screwed on to the spindles 8 which form hydraulic pistons in cylinders 6 secured to the upper heating table 5. The threaded spindles 8 are pivotally mounted on the lower heating table 2 and are adapted to be moved by a frame 21 pivoted about the same axis, the frame 21 carrying a motor 20 which drives the spindles 8 simultaneously through a chain drive 24, 25, 26. The mould halves 1, 4 are closed firmly together by oil pressure applied through a pipe 32 beneath the nuts 7 so that the cylinders 6 are forced downwardly. On opening the pressure is released from the lower half of cylinder 6 and oil pressure applied to the upper half through pipe 33 until the mould halves open slightly when switch 31 is opened and the motor 20 actuated to drive the spindles 8 until the upward movement of nuts 7 closes switch 35. The frame 21 is pivoted by an hydraulic cylinder and piston 29, 27 to tilt the spindles 8. When the frame 21 is pivoted into a horizontal position it contacts a switch 30 which actuates motor 20 to drive the spindles 8 and thus lower the upper heating table 5.
