A capsuled bottle closure comprises an expendable sleeve 3 of metal or plastics material fitted over a stopper 2 and extending at least to the mouth of a bottle 1, the sleeve and stopper being enclosed by a capsule 5 provided with perforations 6 adjacent the lower edge of the sleeve. The sleeve 3 is cup-shaped and has a bevelled edge portion 4. On opening the bottle, the sleeve 3 and that portion of the capsule 5 adhering to it are discarded and the ragged edge of the lower portion of the capsule 5 is below the bottle mouth.
