Abstract
952,825. Spinning viscose. TEIKOKU JINZO KENSHI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. May 17, 1962 [May 23, 1961], No. 19071/62. Heading B5B. Viscose rayon yarn of less than 75 deniers is obtained by extruding viscose into a coagulating liquid which flows, together with the yarn resulting continuous filament and at substantially the same speed, through a tube of internal diameter 3-7 mm. throughout its entire length, winding up the yarn on a first rotating member disposed tangentially to the line of flow of coagulating liquid, and stretching the yarn, the regeneration value of which is not more than 20% at the time of being wound on said rotating member. The peripheral speed V of the rotating member is 150-300 m/min. and is such that V + 200 D is less than 410, where D (draft) is V divided by the speed of the viscose as it is extruded through the spinneret holes. The regeneration valve is defined as 1 - residual γ-value of the yarn/γ-value of viscose. The amount of stretching is preferably 20- 40%, between the first and a second rotating member. The concentration of sulphuric acid in the coagulating bath is preferably 1.7-2.6 times that of the total alkali in the viscose, and the concentration of salts in the bath is preferably 1.8-2.7 times that of the sulphuric acid. The 3-7 mm. diameter tube preferably ex. tends over the whole of the distance through which the yarn travels, and is preferably disposed at 45-90 degrees to the horizontal. The inlet end of the tube may be flared. The process makes possible the spinning of fine yarn of less than 75 deniers at high speed, e.g. above 200 m/minute.
