As engine speed rises outward movement of balls 12 (Fig. 1 not shown) moves hollow bell 10 to cause axial movement of the cam through pivoted lever 1. The combined angular and axial movements of the cam are sensed by lever 7 and are transmitted through lever 28, to a lever 27 pivoted about pin 25, to move the fuel pump regulating rod 6. A thermostat 17 acts through a travel limiter 21 and lever system 22a, 22b, 24 to displace pivot pin 25 in accordance with engine temperature, An element 20 which detects ambient temperature controls a temperature-sensitive capsule 19 connected to a barometer capsule 18 which together act through levers 30a, 30 to displace pin 25 in arcuate slot 26 in accordance with changes in ambient temperature.
