Abstract

951,891. Crates for bottles &c. RESEARCH & DESIGN Ltd. Jan. 7, 1963 [Jan. 5, 1962], No. 451/62. Heading B8P. A transit crate is made as a one-piece moulding of plastics material and has a reinforcing pillar 6, 9 at each corner. The crate includes a base 1, side walls 2 and 3, end walls 4 and 5, and hollow cylindrical pillars 6-9 which extend beyond the height of the walls. An upper rim 10 and intermediate rim 11 of channel section extend between the pillars 6-9, the rim 11 being integral with the upper edge of the walls. Two internal longitudinal partitions 12 and three transverse partitions 13 are moulded integrally with the crate. The walls have rectangular windows 15, and the base has drainage holes 16 and slits 17. Ribs 18 formed on the underside of the base engage within the rim 10 of a lower crate for stacking. A modified form of crate to carry more bottles has additional reinforcing pillars midway along each side and at the junction between the central longitudinal and transverse partitions.
