Abstract
951,794. Photograph camera shutters. FEINGERATEBAU OTTO SCHLUND G.m.b.H. Sept. 30, 1960 [Oct. 2, 1959], No. 33730/60. Heading G2A. A photographic pivoted blade shutter comprises a master member arranged to move in the same direction during both opening and closing movements of the blades, with a blade ring with which said member engages during the opening movement but not during the closing movement, and a pivoted lever to effect the closing movement of the blade ring under the action of the master member. The shutter shown in Fig. 1 comprises a blade ring 6 which, when rotated in opposite directions, opens and closes blades 5 in known manner. The ring 6 is initially held stationary by a projection on a release setting arm 44 engaging a lug on the ring, but when the ring is released a master member 14 is rotated by its driving spring 16 so that a lug 18 on it engages a pin 12 (which passes through a hole 10 in the ring 6) and rotates the ring to open the blades. The lug 18 then slips off pin 12 and rotates a lever 38,by engaging a pin 39 on it, so that an arm 41 thereon engages either pin 12 or a lug 9 on the ring 6 to rotate the ring and and close the blades. A return spring 42 on the lever 41 dampens the impact of member 14 with lever 38. A shutter speed control mechanism 24- 30 is provided for varying the shutter speed and is engageable with the master member 14 during the blade closing movement. For bulb exposures, the master member 14 and lever 44 are moved by pins 19, 36 and cams 20, 34 on which they bear respectively,so that they do not engage the ring 6 which is rotated solely by means of a lever 43 connected to it by means of a pin 46 and notch 45. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the return spring 42 is omitted and the pin 39 on the lever engages an arcuate slot 52 in the member 14 dur ing the opening movement of the blades and a radial slot 53 during the closing movement of the blades. The arm 41 is provided with a resilient cap 54 to reduce the impact between arm 41 and lug 9. The pin 12 is provided with an oblique surface 13 and is axially resiliently mounted so that when the member 14 is set by being rotated in an anticlockwise direction, pin 19 moves pin 12 axially and does not, therefore, rotate the blade ring 6. In other embodiments (a) the member 14 and lever 38 have a toothed segment connection (b) the lever 38 opens the blades and the member 14 closes them.
