Abstract

951,147. Wells. DOW CHEMICAL CO. Oct. 24, 1961 [Oct. 26, 1960; Feb. 3, 1961], No. 38011/61. Heading E1F. In a process of well fracturing a substance is added to the fluid, before or during injection, to reduce the pressure drop or friction loss. The substance which may be a polymer of acrylamide, ethylene oxide, or monoalkinylaromatic sulphonate is added at the rate of 0À005 to 1À0% by weight. The fluid is aqueous and may contain sand, corrosion and foam inhibitors, or brine.
