Abstract

An article of jewellery comprises one or more decorative parts one or more electric lamps positioned in close proximity to the decorative part or parts to illuminate the parts and one or more mercury type electric cells arranged to energise the lamp or lamps. The article of jewellery may comprise ear rings, brooches, necklaces, hair clips and the like. A channel shaped bangle with two hinged parts has a 50 milliamp mercury type cell at each end of each section, two lamps within each section and a switch for each section. The top of the channel is closed by translucent red glass or by jewels. A sleeve secured by a spring clip encloses the ends of the sections and obscures the cells from view. The cells and/or the switches may be remote from the article of jewellery.
