Abstract
949,365. Gramophone pick-ups. COSMOCORD Ltd. March 1, 1960 [Dec. 1, 1958], No. 38643/58. Heading H4J. In a gramophone pick-up a stylus carrier is detachably secured with respect to the casing by a detachable spring clip. The stylus carrier comprises a tubular member 20 carrying two oppositely directed styli 22, 23 for standard and micro-groove records, respectively, at one end, and connected at the other end by a flexible wire 24 having an end bent at right-angles and moulded into a circular sectioned mounting and turning member 26 provided with a finger grip portion 26b. The member 26 is pressed into V-shaped recesses in the casing by the crimped up end of a leaf spring 30 which is slid into position beneath two retaining lugs 32 in the casing. An enlarged centre part of the member 26 is made oval in section so that it is retained in one or other rotational position according to the stylus selected for use. The tubular part 20 of the stylus carrier is damped by engagement with a pad 34 of damping material. The invention is applied to a piezoelectric pick-up comprising two bimorphs, of which one (14) is shown, mounted on compliant pads 15, 16 of plasticized polyvinyl chloride and driven by means of a diamond-shaped coupling member 17 of compliant material so designed that reproduction is possible from either lateral cut records of 45/45 stereophonic records tracked by the stylus.
