Abstract

The invention comprises bases of the general formula: <FORM:0949088/C2/1> (wherein one of the symbols R and R1 represents a carboxylic acid acyl group or a tropoyl or g -methyltropoyl group and the other represents a hydrogen atom, a lower (i.e. 1-8C) alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl-lower alkyl radical, or an aralkenyl radical optionally carrying a chloro, nitro, alkoxy or alkyl substituent in the ring), and their salts formed with organic acids, hydrogen halides or alkyl halides, and the preparation of the bases by acylating a compound of the general formula: <FORM:0949088/C2/2> (wherein one of the symbols X and Y represents a hydrogen atom and the other a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl-lower alkyl radical, or an aralkenyl radical optionally carrying a chloro, nitro, alkoxy or alkyl substituent in the ring) with an appropriate acid anhydride or chloride. The products have activity as diuretics and on the central and vegetative nervous systems (e.g. as anticholinergic agents or aralgesics). Specification 937,183 is referred to.
