Abstract
948,438. Composition resistors. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. July 12, 1960 [July 28, 1959], No. 25807/59. Heading H1S. [Also in Division F1] An interference suppressor for an engineignition system comprises an electrically resistive element of silicone rubber composition. The rubular insulating body 1 may be moulded from polyvinyl chloride. Brass discs 3 and 3a are bonded one to each end of the rubber core. In a modification the electrically resisting element of silicone rubber comprises a cylindrical element having at each end integral tubular portions for the reception of electrical connectors. The silicone rubber composition may consist of 100 parts of silicone rubber 18 parts of acetylene carbon black and 3 parts of dicumyl peroxide. The resistivity of the final product can be varied by altering the proportion of the carbon black in the composition within the range 18 to 20 parts to give the required resistance within the range 5000 to 15,000 ohms. Silicone rubbers preferred for use in the suppressors are of the type based on polydimethylsilosane incorporating methyl and vinyl side groups. This is preferably crosslinked with one of the known organic peroxide curing agents such as dicumyl peroxide.
