Abstract

948,081. Brassieres. M. A. HERSHON. March 6, 1961 [March 7, 1960], No. 8139/61. Heading A3V. In a brassiere cup constructed from a plurality of sectors of woven or knitted textile or elasticised fabric sewn together, at least one sector has a reinforcing piece of textile fabric bonded to it, each reinforcing piece covering not more than twothirds of the total area of the sector and being separate from any reinforcing pieces provided in other sectors. There may be four equal sectors 11 joined by vertical and horizontal seams 12, 13 and each having a reinforcing piece 16 in the shape of two petals. The piece 16 comprises fabric including cellulose acetate threads and is first stitched to the sector at 17 and then softened with a solvent and bonded by the application of heat and pressure. Cups having other arrangements of two, three or four sectors are described.
