947,713. Drying webs. MASCHINENFABRIK FRIEDRICH HAAS G.m.b.H. June 3, 1960 [Feb. 27, 1960], No. 19662/60. Heading F4G. Apparatus for drying a web 1 of fabric comprises carrying the web in short loops (not shown) between bars 16 on a rotating endless chain 2, the bars having a chain wheel 4 secured to the axle 17 of each bar which is engaged by an auxiliary chain 9 to rotate the bars over the tensioned run of the chain. The bars are rotated during further travel of the chain about the driven return roller 11 of the chain to straighten out the loops at the end of the run by means of a guide 10 mounted concentrically on the return roller which engages hub-like rings 3 on the axles of the bars. The web is taken up below the return roller 11 by a further bar chain 13 and lies in short loops on the crossbars 14 thereof, the chain being returned by a wheel 15.
