Abstract

947,110. Clamps. ASH & ROGERS Ltd. Nov. 14, 1962 [Dec. 7, 1961], No. 43796/61. Heading E2B. A safety belt buckle comprises a cap member 17 and a base member 10 pivotally connected together, the base member having a recess 11 formed therein and the cap member having a cam portion 31 associated therewith, the cam portion being adapted to engage the free end 39 of the belt when the buckle is fastened and wedge it within the recess 11 in the base member. As shown, the cap member is biased away from the base member 17 by a spring 21 and is retained in the fastened position by a spring- loaded catch 22. The cam portion 31 is pivoted between lugs 29 on the cap member and is biased by a spring 34 in such a direction that cam freely engage with the recess 11. When the cap member is pivoted downwardly on to the base member. The fixed end of the belt is looped around a lug 12 and is held against relative movement thereto by a spring plate 15 secured to the underside of the base.
