Abstract
947,079. Bottle stoppers. CONTAINERS & CLOSURES Ltd. Nov. 14, 1961 [Dec. 9, 1960], No. 42378/60. Heading B8T. A screw plug bottle stopper moulded from polypropylene has a body part 10 comprising a hollow spigot 12 and an integral flange 14 sealingly closed by a disc 11 which has a laterally projecting flange 28 resting on a radially inwardly extending annular ledge and whose circumferential edge is in locking engagement with the rim 19 of the flange 14, an efficient seal being provided between the body part 10 and the disc 11 by the provision on the disc of an annular rib 32 which fits tightly within a complementary annular groove in the body part, which rib and groove extend axially of the stopper and are disposed entirely radially inwardly of the radially inner edge of the annular ledge on which the flange 28 rests. In a modification, the rib and groove are V-shaped in cross-section. A sealing ring 18 is provided on the spigot 12. Specification 801,860 is referred to.
