In a process for the production of polytetrafluoroethylene insulating discs and positioning them on an electric conductor, two half discs are formed by compressing powdered polytetrafluoroethylene in moulds fusing these two half discs together under high pressure, so as to grip a conductor placed between them, slowly bringing the whole assembly to a temperature in the neighbourhood of 350‹ C. and allowing it to cool slowly.
