Abstract
945,351. Bridges. A. MANTSCHEFF. Jan. 22, 1960 [Jan. 29, 1959], No. 2460/60. Heading E1G. A pre-stressed concrete roadway beam 10 is supported by pre-stressed concrete ties 15 supported in towers 11. The ties either are rigidly anchored to the towers, or extend through the. towers on roller or other bearings, Fig. 5 (not shown), to prevent lateral stresses. The reinforcing elements in the ties 15 sag by varying amounts so as to bunch together in the lower part of the tie near its centre.
