Abstract

An agricultural composition comprises a fungicide, pesticide, herbicide or plant growth regulant, a salt or mixture of a volatile base and a long chain saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid having at least 13 carbon atoms in the chain and a surface active agent in which the hydrophilic property is derived from condensed alkylene oxide. Specified volatile bases are ammonia, trimethylamine, triethylamine, monoand di-methylamines and ethylamines, monobutylamine and mono and di-methyl propylamine. Specified acids are arachidic, behenic, myristic, palmitic and stearic acid. The surface active agent may be of the alkylene oxide block polymer or complex type e.g. the "Phuronics" (Registered Trade Mark), the alkyl phenol such as octyl cresol and nonyl phenol condensates, fatty alcohol e.g. dodecyl, oleyl or cetyl alcohol condensates or esters of polyhydric alcohols for example sorbitol and fatty acids condensates. Specified agricultural chemicals are fungicides e.g. cuprous oxide or copper oxychloride, nickel fungicides e.g. nickel hydroxides and sulphur fungicides e.g. T.N.T.D.; insecticides e.g. D.D.T., BHC, alpha-naphthyl ester of N-methyl carbamic acid, aldrin, dieldrin, bis-N : N : N1 : N1 - tetramethylphosphorodiamidic anhydride and o,o - dimethyl - s - (N - methylcarbamoyl methyl) - phosphorodithioate; or herbicides e.g. N - parachlorophenyl - N,N2-dimethylurea, 2 - chloro - 4:6 - bis (monoethylamino) - s - triazine and 2 - chloro - 4-monoethyl amine - 6 - monopropylamino - s-triazine. The compositions may be in the form of solutions, suspension, pastes or powders and contain inert diluents, suspending agents or antiflocculants. Specification 848,327 is referred to.
