943, 514. Electric analogue computers. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 13, 1962 [Oct. 5, 1961], No. 35911/61. Heading G4G. [Also in Division G1] Apparatus for measuring the ratio of two speeds comprises two tachogenerators TG1, TG2 (Fig. 2), each producing a D.C. output voltage proportional to one of the speeds, which is automatically balanced against the voltage tapped off from a linear potentiometer 1 (Fig. 1), the slider 3 being ganged with the slider 4 of a log-wound potentiometer 2, giving an output signal which is proportional to the logarithm of the speed, and the difference between the two output signals is fed to a meter 13 with an anti-log scale, which thus indicates the ratio of the two speeds.
