Abstract

Crystalline polypropylene is stabilized with a compound of formula: <FORM:0942644/C3/1> wherein R and R1 are the same or different aryl groups. Specified stabilizers are dibenzoyl- and dinaphthoyl-aminophenols. Optional ingredients are calcium stearate, 4,41-thio-bis-6-t butyl-m-cresol, lauryl thiodipropionate, polyalkyleneimines, polyvinylpyridine and condensation products of amines with dichloroethane or epichlorhydrin. A solvent may be used in forming the polypropylene/stabilizer mixture, which finds application as filaments, fibres, film, staple, yarn and tapes.
