Abstract
942,279. Self-advancing pit props. DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd. April, 26 1962 [Feb. 17, 1961], No. 5993/61. Heading E1E. A self-advancing roof support comprises two frame units C, D having longitudinally-extending guide means to which transverse beams E, F are selectively clamped by pairs of diagonallyopposed clamps A, B-the arrangement being such that when one pair of opposed clamps A are in the locking condition a double-action jack G disposed between the beams E, F can advance one frame unit relative to the other and when the other pair of opposed clamps 13 are in the locking position the jack can continue the advance of the said one frame unit relative to the other. The clamps may be hydraulically actuated and may include a wedge which can be forced between the beam and the wall of the guideway.
