Abstract
942,269. Hook fastenings. NORTH & JUDD Ltd. July 19, 1961 [July 28, 1960], No. 26218/61. Addition to 926,932. Heading A3H. A hook fastener comprises a hook having a tongue and a base securing means extending from the base, a button and a cap embracing the button and arranged to enclose the securing means after they have been deformed to engage the button so as to secure the hook and button together. The hook member 80 has prongs 110 and 111 which pierce the fabric 123, and enter an annular V-shaped groove 95 in the button 82, pass through the button to another groove 87 the ends of the prongs being turned over to clinch the button and a cap 84 applied. To assemble the fastener the button is placed in a groove in an anvil above which is placed the fabric and the tongue of the hook member 80 is held in a groove in a die over the button. Pressure is exerted between the anvil and die to force the prongs through the fabric and button and then to turn over the ends of the prongs against the anvil surface. The cap 84 is then press fitted over the button.
